Having Fun with a Bad Situation

Many of you know about our backyard fiasco. To make a very long story short, we haven't had a backyard to play in yet because it is too wet. The builders tried a couple of things last summer that never worked, so they are trying something new. We are hopeful this is the end and we have a beautiful green yard to play in soon.

Some good things have come because of this mess. Like...........

I got to sit on this "beet onj tacto" Translation=big orange tractor.

And I get to help mommy water the new plants out front. If our yard was normal, our sprinklers would do this for us, but now we have to fill this big orange bucket in the kitchen and haul it outside. I'm going to miss doing this!

Right now we do all our playing in the front yard which is entertaining because they are building more houses down the street. Ellis and I love watching the big trucks drive by.

When all the hard work and playing outside is done, we like to relax and watch a little Cars.

Smarter by the Day!

Kaden can count to 10 all on his own! It first happened on Saturday afternoon. He was having a snack when he decided to give it a try. Mommy had been working on counting to 3 with him, but he thought he'd blow her away and go all the way to 10! He gets a little confused at 4 sometimes, but he quickly recovers. Notice he's always in his booster seat in videos?!?! It's because it's the only place he'll sit still!

I am working on perfecting my drumming skills. I like to drum on anything! I can even drum on command! Here I am drumming on a ball.

Newness

I am talking up a storm these days. I can even put 3 words together! Since I'm so good at talking, I thought I'd challenge myself to learn my letters. I'm starting with the letters in my name and I have the k and d down. Here I am playing with my magnetic letters on the frig.Ellis got a new booster seat like mine. He was getting to be a crazy man in the Bumbo chair! He needed to be strapped in somewhere where he couldn't tip over. He loves his booster seat! We also found out he loves the swings at the park.Those of you who don't know my brother well might be wondering why he is always wearing a bib. He spits up........A LOT! I help him out by wiping his face with his bib if I see something on his face.

So Smart

Kaden and I are learning new things all the time. One of my latest tricks is "so big!" I apologize for how dark this video is. Mommy doesn't turn the lights on in the morning. She just lets the sunlight in, but it apparently isn't bright enough for a video.

Kaden has learned to say and identify many colors this past week. He learned red, orange, yellow, green and blue in ONE day. He has since added pink, purple, black, brown, white and sometimes gray. Here he is practicing some of them at breakfast.

What a Week!

I turned 2 on April 6th and the celebration went on for a week! It all started with a party at my house...........

Yummy cupcakes! (At least that's what Mom says. I wouldn't try mine because those candles freaked me out! I waved at them and said "Bye!")

I had a ton of gifts to open! Everyone was too generous!

The attention was taken off of me for a day to celebrate Easter!

Then we went to Grand Forks where Uncles Mark and Pat got me T-Ball! They tried to give me lessons in the living room, but I wanted to do it MY way with just one hand on the bat!

Ellis had his own way of playing too!

Papa brought me to Cabela's to see the fish and animals.

I went swimming with Ellis and my friends Lily and Gia. The girls were much more daring than Ellis and me! I was really slow to warm up to the chaos at the water park and the water was a little cold for Ellis, but we had a good time!

Then the girls came to Papa and Gaga's house. I played with Lily and Ellis played with Gia.

My other Papa came to take me to the circus! I found out I have a fear of clowns (just like Daddy)!

Papa spoiled me with pop and gave me my own bag of chips!

Papa got a huge new truck that I got to check out. These are the only pants I wear with elastic on the bottom and I think it's so cool that I can push them up, and they stay!

He even let me drive! Mommy says not to worry..... it wasn't even turned on, but I don't know any different!

There were a few other things that happened during my birthday week that mom didn't get pictures of.
*I got a birthday crown at school. The kids and moms sang to me and I gave monkey stickers to all my friends.
*Mandi brought me an awesome bowling set. We played in the kitchen at Papa and Gaga's house.
*I spent a day in Fargo with Papa, Auntie Annie, Uncle Brett, the Graalums, Anika and Jacob. We played outside all day!

This week was so much fun! I can't wait for my birthday week next year! Mommy says this is an example of why our site is called Martin CHAOS!
